The idea was born in mid 2006. After the creation of some icons related to software products several questions arose...
Why can these fancy icons not be materialized?
- The Icons.
- The Initial Shape Design.
So if there's a way to materialize them...
Why can other software products not be represented the same way?
Why only software products? Why not ... any product|brand|company|event|whatever?!
What about making all these things compatible with a uniform shape?
... and why not provide holes in the shape for mounting and stacking?
... and why not integrate electronic functionality as an option?
... and finally, link them to a Web portal?!
At the end of the day a pretty new and complex concept was born!
The initial Cube edge length was defined as 5 centimeters. But after getting the first prototype it was clear that this was too large! So after several prototypes 4 cm turned out to be the perfect edge length.
